  18. <p>     Until recently, she has been the Jackson defined by who she
  19. is not--not Michael, the surgically remastered chum of Macaulay
  20. Culkin, and not LaToya, the one short on talent but long on
  21. tabloid scandal. Today, though, JANET JACKSON, the singer with
  22. a hot album (janet.), the actress with a hit film (Poetic Justice),
  23. really is a star in her own right. And now she is about to receive
  24. one of the honors conferred only on those who achieve true star
  25. status: the unauthorized biography. In the proposal for the
  26. Janet expose, J. Randy Taraborrelli (author of Michael Jackson
  27. and Diana Ross bios) alleges not only that she has undergone
  28. numerous cosmetic surgeries (including fat removal), but also
  29. that she is secretly married. Another claim of Taraborrelli's
  30. is that at 15 Janet helped her mother "mercilessly" beat up
  31. a woman suspected of having an affair with Janet's father. The
  32. reporter promises plenty of other scandalous revelations too.
  33. A spokesman for the singer says the allegations are "absolutely
  34. untrue."
